Podbop Finds Bands In Your Town
Tuesday, February 21st, 2006 at 2:00 PM - by Jeff Gamet
The iTunes Music Store is great for finding music and introducing you to bands that otherwise would have slipped under your radar, but it doesn't tell when that new find is playing at a venue near you. Enter Podbop: A Web site that lists performance dates based on your city. It goes a step beyond, however, and lets you listen to music from the artists. In most cases, you can even download and keep the sample tracks.
Podbop also has a podcast showcasing the bands coming to your town. The podcasts are customized for your locale, and include individual songs from the artists that are currently performing, or are scheduled to open. As an example, here's the podcast link for Denver, Colorado.
According to ZDNet, Podbop recently took first place at MashupCamp as the best blending of application programming interfaces.
