Podcasts Begin to Replace Guidebooks for Travelers

An article on CNN's Web site reveals that many tourists are packing their iPods with audio city tours, rather than weighing down their luggage with bulky guidebooks. Not only has the city of Glasgow, Scotland instituted a free "iTours" audio guide, but the British airline Virgin Atlantic has started offering a series of free audio guides for New York City.
According to writer Nick Easen, hotels have even started to offer amenities for iPod owners. For example, the Hilton chain has installed new clock radios that include cables for connecting to the popular MP3 player, so guests can listen to their music. And W Hotels and the Hardrock Hotel in Chicago offer not only iPod chargers in their rooms, but they also keep iPods that guests can borrow from the concierge.
