Portable Media Expo & Podcasting Conference Was a Hit, Says Organizer
Monday, November 14th, 2005 at 2:00 PM - by Brad Cook
Last week's Portable Media Expo & Podcasting Conference was more popular that organizer Tim Bourquin expected: While he planned for 1,000 attendees, 2,500 people from 20 countries showed up. Frank Barnako reported on the news for MarketWatch, noting that next year's event will take up the entire Ontario, Calif. Convention Center.
Mr. Bourquin told Mr. Barnako that he expects the next show, which will take place Sept. 29 and 30, "will be more structured," with five or six tracks of programming, each of which will appeal to specific types of attendees, such as hobbyists or corporate representatives.
Mr. Bourquin expects to make recordings of Expo sessions available soon for a fee. Among podcasters who attended the show and are seeing success, a pair of women who produce Mommycast said they had signed a 12-month sponsorship deal with Dixie, which produces disposable tableware. Another podcaster puts together interviews with real estate agents that he hosts on his Web site for a fee.
