Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands Get iPhone 3G on Oct 17

The U.S. cell carrier AT&T plans to expand iPhone 3G availability on October 17 when it rolls out the combination iPod and smartphone in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
AT&T will use the same contract price plans in the territories that it is using in the United States, including the US$199 price point for the 8GB iPhone, and $299 for the 16GB model. The plans will require a two-year contract.
Apple’s iPhone 3G is currently available in over 40 countries and the company plans to expand out to some 70 countries before the end of 2008.
