Pure Play Music Bringing Unsigned Artists to iTunes Store

Music artists looking to get their work on the iTunes Store now have yet another avenue to try thanks to a deal Pure Play Music struck with Apple. The company will be providing some 1.5 million tracks to the iTunes Store, and Apple will be adding a new drop-down category for Pure Play Music tracks to the store’s front page.
Along with the iTunes Store, Pure Play Music’s library will also be available through eMusic, Napster, and Amazon.com MP3. According to Pure Play Music, it currently promotes over 6,000 acts from 42 countries.
Pure Play Music isn’t the first company to bring unsigned artists to the iTunes Store, but having its own home page category could give the artists it represents more visibility.
TuneCore and CDBaby have both been offering tracks from unsigned artists at the iTunes Store for some time now. With the addition of Pure Play Music, independent artists now have even more options for getting their music placed on the iTunes Store.
