PwnageTool 2.0.3 Released, Supports iPhone 2.0.2

The iPhone Dev Team has released PwnageTool 2.0.3. This version is required to unlock and jailbreak OS X iPhone 2.0.2 for iPhone 2G. The team has nothing new to report on unlocking the iPhone 3G.

The iPhone Dev Team said in their blog that the new version supports iPhone/iPod touch firmware 2.0.2 5C1. They also pointed out that the application should only be downloaded as a ’.tbz’ file and should not be decompressed with the Unarchiver utility. Simply double-clicking in the Finder will invoke its own unarchive functionality.

The Pwnage tool version numbering has developed a sequence of being one version higher than the iPhone OS to properly jailbreak and unlock the iPhone 2G. (Or, simply jailbreak the iPhone 3G.) For example, PT 2.0 is required for iPhone OS 1.0 -> 1.1.4, PT 2.0.1 is required for iPhone 2.0, PT 2.0.2 is required for iPhone 2.0.1 and so on.

"There are no significant updates with regard to the 3G baseband unlock, most of us have been busy with real life, when we get any further we’ll let you know," the blog concluded.
