Report: Apple "Will Launch" 4GB, 6GB shuffles This Year
Wednesday, August 17th, 2005 at 3:00 PM - by Brad Gibson
Apple Computer "will launch" iPod shuffle models in 4GB and 6GB capacities, according to published reports.
DigiTimes is quoting a published report from the Chinese-language Commercial Times that Taiwan Green Point (TGP), a Taiwan-based consumer electronics-use chassis maker, recently landed iPod-use case orders from Apple Computer, and that sources close to the company have confirmed the order is for higher-capacity shuffles.
"Taiwan-based iPod-related component makers including Foxlink (Cheng Uei Precision Industry), Advanced-Connectek (Acon), Mustang Industrial and Ji-Haw Industrial are expected to see a significant revenue contribution from Apple orders later this year, as the PC maker will launch new iPod Shuffle models in 4GB and 6GB versions," according to the paper."
The company is understood to have made major internal investments in building systems to maintain the iPod's market lead. Other Taiwanese firms making iPod components include, Foxlink (Cheng Uei Precision Industry), Advanced-Connectek (Acon), Mustang Industrial and Ji-Haw Industrial.
