Report Envisions Apple, Sony Offerings in PC-Less Music World
Sunday, January 22nd, 2006 at 2:00 PM - by Brad Cook
With the CD in danger of becoming obsolete as a delivery medium for music, the computer could eventually follow suit, according to a new report from Research and Markets. Titled "The Digital Home: A New Dawn for Hi-Fi," the report cites Apple and Sony as "two companies that would be capable of introducing an integrated offering" for music.
The report uses mock product designs and screenshots to show how, "at a product level, a hi-fi product could be integrated with a subscription music service, a personal music device, in-car systems and a mobile music service to deliver a superb, integrated user experience." The report's authors saw the TV playing a central role in that scenario.
The 10-page report sells for €132, which is approximately US$162 at current exchange rates.
