Samsung Preparing Six New MP3 Player Models

Samsung Electronics will release six new MP3 music players between now and December in an effort to catch up with Apple Computer and its iPod digital media device, a company official said Thursday.
Reuters reported the company also plans to ship 10 more MP3-type players next year.
"We will have a total of 12 new MP3 models this year and plan to introduce 5-to-7 flash type models and some two hard disk drive models in 2006," Park Hyun-joo, an assistant manager of the Seoul-based company’s marketing division, told Reuters.
"As the MP3 market grows more than 20 percent a year, we need to raise production to keep pace with market growth," she said.
Upcoming music players from Samsung will have high-capacity storage to download more music and films, and allow users to play games or take digital photos.
Samsung supplies Apple with flash memory for its lower-capacity iPod shuffle.
