SanDisk Takes Second Place to iPod

Apple is the undisputed king of the MP3 player, but SanDisk has slipped into the number two position. Although the race isn’t close - Apple sold 14 million iPods during the holiday quarter, and SanDisk sold one million of its players - the company that is better known for its Flash-based USB drives has carved a place for itself in the digital music player market.
According to the Mercury News, SanDisk entered the music player market in November 2004, and has been gaining ground ever since. And, it has achieved its goal of nabbing the number two spot in the MP3 player arena.
Eli Harari, SanDisk Chief Executive, commented "We are not Apple. We are not an iPod. But we have a highly respected brand."
