Most musical episodes of TV shows frankly stink. They are usually little more than ill-conceived vehicles intended to let the stars show off what musical talent they have. Once More, With Feeling,

Sansa Connect As iPod Rival Close, No Cigar
Tuesday, May 1st, 2007 at 4:00 PM - by John Martellaro
The Sansa Connect is a good music player with a unique advantage over the iPod in its Wi-Fi connectivity, but it falls short in other areas, according to the Wall Street Journal on Wednesday. [Subscription Required.]
Unlike the iPod, which must be plugged into a computer to load new music, Sansa Connect can play and download content on the player whenever a Wi-Fi network is available," Katherine Boehret wrote.

Even though the ability to play Internet radio stations is novel, one must be within range of a Wi-Fi hotspot, and that chews up the battery. Fortunately, the player cuts the connection when not in use to conserve the battery.
Another annoying aspect is the way the player finds music in Wi-Fi mode. Searching for a single song is difficult, and the user is limited to choosing from general genres or accepting recommendations. And the service is subscription based at US$15/month, so the customer never really owns those songs.
It all depends on whether the user is interested in discovering new music, by accident, or focusing on particular bands and songs. In any case, the player can still be plugged into a computer and synced with Yahoos Music Jukebox. In that mode, songs are available for purchase at US$0.79 with a subscription in place or $0.99 without. Any MP3s already on the computer can be transferred to the Sansa Connect.
All in all, the device was viewed favorably because of its novel Wi-Fi capability and good design. "It forced me to look at my portable player as an evolving, untethered device that introduced me to lots of songs," Ms. Boehret concluded. "When it wasnt connected to Wi-Fi, I was disappointed not to be downloading new songs. My iPod seemed old-fashioned."
