Speakal Announces iPig: A 5 Speaker iPod Docking Station

Speakal announced Thursday the release of iPig, a 5-speaker docking station for iPod. The iPig features 25 watts of sound that includes a 4" subwoofer and four other speakers, a separate bass volume control, a remote control, and 360° sound, all in a small footprint.

"We could not be more pleased to bring the iPig to the masses," Speakal CEO David Solomon said in a statement. "Today’s consumer demands electronics that function at a high level while still being a welcomed addition to each individual’s décor. The iPig satisfies both needs with superior sound quality and a unique, aesthetically pleasing design."

The company said that the device has a built-in iPod dock with various included cradles, and a standard auxiliary 3.5 mm input jack. This provides connectivity with most portable and non portable audio players, gaming consoles, mobile gaming devices, cellular phones, desktop PCs, laptops and "various other devices."

Volume on the device is controlled by touching the ears of the iPig (one ear turns it up, and the other turns it down), and the mouth lights up when it is powered on, and it blinks when it receives signals from the remote control.

The iPig comes i yellow, white, and pink, as noted in the image above. It retails for US$139.99.
