Steve Jobs Named "Radio Person of the Year"
Thursday, December 29th, 2005 at 2:00 PM - by Jeff Gamet
RadioDailyNews.com has named Apple Computer CEO, Steve Jobs, as the winner of its "Radio Person of the Year" award. The annual award recognizes an individual for their profound effect on radio in the current year, as well as their potential for a positive effect on the radio industry in the coming year.
Mr. Jobs is receiving the award because of the impact the iPod, iTunes, the iTunes Music Store, and podcasting have had on radio broadcasting. Despite the fact that the iPod is seen as a competitor to radio, it has also provided broadcasters with a new distribution channel through podcasting and iTunes.
Larry Shannon, publisher of RadioDailyNews.com said, "RDN solicited feedback from its Web site's visitors and subscribers, and determined from a variety of sources that Steve Jobs, the iPod and Apple's many media products made significant impacts on the broadcasting industry in 2005 and during the past few years. We anticipate that his influence on the broadcasting industry will continue throughout the coming year."
