Subaru Announces iPod Interface for 2008 Impreza

On Thursday, Subaru sent out a e-mail to its customers telling them about the iPod interface for the new 2008 Impreza. The interface works only with Apple iPods and integrates into the steering wheel controls.

"The Subaru iPod Interface allows extensive control of your iPod through the Impreza’s factory head unit and steering wheel controls (if equipped). While connected, the iPod’s battery will be charged and scrolling text information can display playlist, artist, album, or song titles on the head unit. Choose from all the familiar play modes: repeat one song, repeat all songs, shuffle songs, and shuffle albums. You can even fast forward and rewind individual songs, Podcasts, or Audiobooks," according to Subaru’s Website.

The kit (Subaru Part Number H621SFG500) includes: interface module, dock cable, wiring harness, mounting bracket, user guide, installation instructions, quick reference card, and face plate decals (temporary labels for the head unit buttons which can help you to learn their functions in iPod mode).

The iPods supported are: iPod 4G, iPod 4G/color, iPod 5G/video, iPod classic, iPod touch, iPod mini, iPod nano 1G, 2G and 3G.

The kit is available only for the 2008 Imprezza without factory navigation and without satellite radio.
