Teen Convicted in iPod Slaying
Wednesday, June 21st, 2006 at 3:00 PM - by Jeff Gamet
17 year old Darren Samuel was convicted of second degree murder and robbery for fatally stabbing a 15 year old boy in Brooklyn over an iPod. According to CNN, Mr. Samuel could spend up to 25 years in jail.
Brooklyn prosecutor, Charles Hynes, said a jury spent three hours deliberating before returning a guilty verdict.
Mr. Samuel was accused of stabbing Christopher Rose in the chest when the boy and his friends refused to give up an iPod they were carrying. He admitted he was with the group of people that attacked Mr. Rose, but said his older cousin, Aaron Farrell, actually stabbed the boy.
Mr. Farrell is being tried for murder in July.
