The minimum amount of money that can be spent on an iPhone, over the 24 month contract, is US$1975.00, according to iLounge on Tuesday.

The Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) over the 24 month contract period, with the least expensive iPhone, 450 minutes/mo., an activation fee of US$36, and assuming no $175 cancellation fee comes to US$1975.00.

If one wants to go wild, it’s possible to spend upwards of $6,000.

The charts provided by the author help put into perspective the options and total costs. However, while $1975.00 seems like a lot of money, it’s about what one pays for any really cool smartphone that isn’t highly subsidized plus a typical monthly plan.

In addition, having an Apple iPhone for two years leads one to think about the considerable Return on Investment (ROI), namely getting rid of whatever phone one has to suffer with now.
