TiVo Launches Broadband Video Service

TiVo launched a new service called TiVoCast on Wednesday that lets subscribers watch Web-based video on their televisions. Currently, subscribers have access to content from The New York Times, Heavy, iVillage, CNET, The National Basketball Association, and the Women’s National Basketball Association. Although there may ultimately be some content cross over between TiVoCast and the iTunes Music Store, presumably TiVoCast will work more like a subscription service since you watch streaming content instead of purchasing individual shows and downloading them to your hard drive.

The TiVo Web site has not been updated yet with additional information about TiVoCast yet.
