    • The jazz album to end all jazz albums. Miles Davis and John Coltrane and Cannonball Adderly and the list goes on. The who's who of who's who in jazz have assembled for this monumental record. Get this

    • Alanis Morissette
    • Ten years after the original release, comes the traditional celebratory acoustic re-recording. The album has held up remarkably well. While it is not as meaningful to me as it was when I was sixteen,

    • Massive Attack
    • "Black Milk" knocks me off my feet in this collection of moody and eclectic songs. Massive Attack uses samples and keyboards in a very unique way, but not all the songs pack the same punch.

Time-shifted TV is a Certainty

Time-shifted TV is coming. Various industry luminaries have predicted it, but a report from Solutions Research Groups Digital Life America (DLA) confirms it, according to Media Life Magazine.

Kaan Yigit, study director for DLA expressed the view that in ten years, regular time slots will cease to mean anything. iTunes is a good example. "There is no schedule for all the content at iTunes, everything there is available to anyone at anytime," Mr. Yigit said.

However, there will be some exceptions. For example, live sporting events. Also, to some extent, human beings live in a rhythmic cycle, so the idea of scheduled TV won’t go away completely. It will just diminish in importance.

The trend will start with younger people, but it won’t be long before everyone is scheduling their own TV viewing. In addition, part of the problem for advertisers is the viewer’s busy lifestyle. "Many people skip commercials," Mr. Yigit continued, "not because they inherently dislike them but more to reclaim 10 minutes of their lives in a 60-minute segment....

"However, if my target is 18-49 with an active or busy lifestyle, I would worry as they would be both more likely to have a DVR and more likely to put a premium on their time and therefore skip at least some of the commercials."

There is no doubt now that the time-shifting revolution is in full swing and that, amongst all the players, Apple is well poised with iTunes and Apple TV to take advantage of changing viewer habits.
