Tiny Code Fesses Up to iPhone Update Hoax

Tiny Code’s "slip up" that supposedly revealed iPhone Software Update 1.1.4 was on the way turned out to be nothing more than a lie, and the developer called the stunt a "simple joke." The third-party iPhone software coder claimed the move was "simply an excuse to stop publishing to the repo."
Tiny Code developer Kelly made the revelation in the MacRumors forums while offering an apology to Apple, developers and the public.
The Tiny Code Web site began displaying a statement on February 15 claiming that the company was working with Apple and wouldn’t be updating its applications until after the iPhone software development kit and iPhone Software Update 1.1.4 were released. The Web site later went offline, and eventually began redirecting to Apple’s iPhone developer Web page.
The fake announcement set the iPhone rumor machine into high gear while developers and fans began speculating on what this rumored update would entail, and why was it necessary for installing iPhone applications.
Unfortunately, the Tiny Code stunt underscores the fact that just because someone can write code and publish a Web site doesn’t mean they are capable of understanding the potential impact of acts that they think are funny.
