Toy Companies Get Into the iPod Accessories Game

Toy companies, facing an annual decline in sales that dates to 2003, have jumped into the iPod accessories game with a variety of products that connect to the MP3 player. According to an article at Australian IT, the toys on display at the U.S. International Toy Fair include a Baby Einstein rocking chair, a SpongeBob SquarePants speaker system, and Hasbro's I-Cat, a successor to I-Dog that also moves to the beat when hooked to an iPod.
Isaac Larian, CEO of MGA Entertainment, commented: "The iPod is the top toy. My view is why fight them, why not join them." Stephanie Oppenheim, co-founder of the independent toy guide toyportfolio.com, agreed: "It makes sense to pick up on the iPod trend. It follows the overall trend that kids want adult things."
