U.K. iPhone to Include Software Version 1.1.2
Sunday, November 4th, 2007 at 3:00 PM - by Jeff Gamet
The November 9 launch of Apples iPhone in the U.K. may bring more than long lines of shoppers. It may also bring a new software version for the combination iPod and smart phone, according to T3.
Apparently, review iPhone units sent to British publications included iPhone software version 1.1.2 instead of the currently available version 1.1.1. The new software comes with support for additional languages including Italian, German, and even Cantonese.
It also adds support for The Cloud Wi-Fi hot spots -- a feature that U.K. iPod touch users can already take advantage of.
The new software version also patches an exploit that involves malformed TIFF images, which means the current method for hacking the iPhone to work with third party applications will break.
