UC Berkeley Debuts ‘Berkeley on iTunes U’
Monday, April 24th, 2006 at 3:00 PM - by Brad Cook
The University of California, Berkeley, on Tuesday said that it will make podcasts of class lectures available to students through Apple's iTunes U, a free service for colleges and universities. "Berkeley on iTunes U" joins half a dozen higher learning institutions that have done the same, although the school is making all the materials available to the general public, rather than require a password.
Thirty courses were available as podcasts through the webcast.Berkeley portal, according to an article on the school's Web site. Now, however, subscribers can obtain the materials through iTunes.
For professors, the entire process is automated. "All the instructor has to do is show up and turn on the microphone," UC Berkeley product manager Obadiah Greenberg said.
