Using the iPhone as a Currency Rate Converter
Thursday, December 20th, 2007 at 3:00 PM - by John Martellaro
One could go to a Website with Safari on the iPhone and look up currency exchange rates. However, theres an easy way to trick the stock quote application of Safari into providing a simple exchange rate, if thats all thats required, according to the Inquirer Blogs on Friday.
The trick involves entering a formula into the Stock Quote lookup section of the iPhones Stock application. If you need to know at glance what the exhange between the U.S. Dollar and, say, the Euro is right now, youll have it in an instant. [For Dollars to Euros, use USDEUR=X]
Of course, this trick just gives the current rate of exchange. A full conversion calculation for arbitrary amounts will still force the use of the iPhones calculator.
