Video iPod Could Save Not Only TV Network But IT Network Too

While the video-capable iPod wasn't the first portable video player to hit the market, Apple made sure that content delivery was part of the deal from day one. A news article at the CRN Web site quotes Dallas Mavericks owner and dot-com billionaire Mark Cuban as noting: "[Disney president] Bob Iger has enabled new revenue stream which if it grows, could definitely be the revenue stream that saves primetime network TV."
As reporter Edward Moltzen points out, this new content delivery mechanism will give rise to "a need for more computing power and more computer storage." And with that, of course, comes "a demand on the marketplace for security, for integration, for consulting. A virus that makes its way onto a video podcast could find its way into corporate networks unless infrastructure investments are made and kept up."
Mr. Moltzen concludes: "Don't be surprised if the strongest implications are for the IT network and supply chain."
