Every Day: The Best of the Verve Years
- Joe Williams
- Joe Williams was Figure Two in my three-man education in singing. A brilliant vocalist, scatter, and interpreter of jazz and blues, Williams produces music that's totally unique, yet sounds so effortl
- Goldfrapp
On their latest CD, Supernature, Goldfrapp has put together a successful mix of 1980-era New Romanticism, German cabaret, and T. Rex glam that leaves you riveted even through the album's lulls. It's a great amalgam that sounds current without sounding at all dated.

Wingspan Reveals More About iLoad-v, Intros iLoad-c
Sunday, February 5th, 2006 at 2:00 PM - by Brad Cook
Wingspan on Monday revamped its Web site with Flash videos that demonstrate how its iLoad and iLoad-v products work. The company also added mention of its upcoming iLoad-c, which apparently helps users get music sold by cell phone carriers directly onto iPods, much the same way the iLoad and iLoad-v get music and video, respectively, directly onto iPods.
iLoad and iLoad-v are available now for pre-order at a price of US$249 and $149 each. Consumers who order one now will receive priority shipping and an upgrade to a three-year warranty (the standard is one year). Wingspan expects to start shipping the devices this spring.
iLoad copies a CD to an iPod in about eight minutes, according to the company. It includes a 2.5mm audio output jack for listening to music before deciding which tracks to import. iLoad also features a database of over 1.8 million songs, enabling it to populate the iPod's database with the necessary information.
The only way to add to that database, however, is to subscribe to a Wingspan service that delivers update CDs on a monthly, quarterly or annual basis for $9.95 each. For the same price per year, users can also obtain the updates via the Internet, although they need their computers for that since the iLoad can't get online.
The iLoad-v connects to a satellite or cable box and records programming that it transfers to an iPod or external hard or flash drive. It features RCA and S-Video ports.
Users can employ its program guide to choose content they want loaded on their devices, with those devices' storage capacities the only limitation on how much they can record. Programming can also be recorded to an external drive and then transferred to the iPod, as well as vice-versa.
