Activation Delays Score iPhone 3G S Buyers 30 iTunes Bucks
Monday, June 22nd, 2009 at 8:08 AM - by Jeff Gamet
Despite a relatively smooth launch weekend, some iPhone 3G S buyers suffered from iPhone activation delays, so Apple is offering a US$30 iTunes Store credit to buyers that were impacted by the problem. iPhone buyers that experienced activation delays over the weekend should receive an email from Apple on Monday with a special code they can redeem for their $30 iTunes Store credit.
In an email to iPhone buyers, Apple apologized for the long activation times and blamed the problem on the high number of people that have been attempting to complete the activation process for their new combination iPod and smartphone. Apple warned that in some cases, customers could have to wait for up to 48 hours for the activation process to complete.
Apple launched the highly anticipated iPhone 3G S on Friday, June 19. In some locations, shoppers began lining up more than 24 hours in advance in hopes of becoming among the first to get their hands on the new iPhone model.
The iPhone 3G S kept the familiar form factor of the iPhone 3G, but added 3 megapixel camera, video capture support, a built-in digital compass, voice control, improved support for visually impaired users, and more.
