How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb
- U2
U2's latest entry is a mostly underwhelming collection of songs that does very little to sound any different from its equally pedestrian predecessor, 2000's "All That You Can't Leave Behind." While
- Congo Norvell
Very few albums manage to capture snapshots of a quality of life in the manner that Congo Norvell's sophomore record, "Abnormals Anonymous," does.
Comparisons to the Velvet Underground are
- Goldfrapp
On their latest CD, Supernature, Goldfrapp has put together a successful mix of 1980-era New Romanticism, German cabaret, and T. Rex glam that leaves you riveted even through the album's lulls. It's a great amalgam that sounds current without sounding at all dated.
Bowie at Beeb: Best of BBC Radio 68-72
- David Bowie
The companion CD to a BBC television concert, BBC Radio Theatre has some of the best renditions of many of Bowie's best songs throughout his career. "I'm Afraid of Americans" is substantial
- Spoon
Gimme Fiction by Spoon is a terrific album by an Austin band that I was lucky enough to catch on an Austin radio station during a Christmas visit.

SAN FRANCISCO -- AOL is at this week's Macworld Expo showing off two new iPhone apps: SHOUTcast Radio, which is available now, and an ICQ instant messaging app. The company also said that it is working on an update to AOL Instant Messenger for the iPhone.
SHOUTcast Radio, which is free, offers access to over 26,000 radio stations across more than 30 genres of programming. Users can save their favorites and shake their iPhone or iPod touch to change stations. Streams are displayed by popularity and quality.

SHOUTcast Radio
AOL didn't offer release dates for ICQ for iPhone or AIM for iPhone 2.0. The former will bring together AOL users, whether they're on AOL, AIM, .Mac or MobileMe, via instant messaging or SMS. Users will be able to swipe the screen to switch between conversations, keep track of favorite contacts, and incorporate a photo taken with the iPhone's camera as an ICQ Devil.
The latter will feature new SMS notifications to let users know when they receive new messages, even if AIM isn't running. From within the application, they'll be able to access contacts in their address book and send an instant message to a contact's screen name or send an SMS text message to their phone number.
