    • Go Away White is an album I've been waiting more than 20 years to hear, and the good news is that it was worth the wait.  The latest -- and last, no...for real this time -- album from

Apple Adds HD Movie Rentals to iTunes Store

Apple started offering HD movies for rent and purchase at the iTunes Store on Thursday. Users can choose from a limited selection of movies now, but more titles are on the way.

Transporter 3, The Spirit, W., Religious and a few more titles are available now, and Quantum of Solace and Twilight are available for pre-order.

HD movies are priced at US$19.99 and also include an standard definition version of the movie formatted for the iPhone and iPod. HD movie rentals cost $4.99.

This is an OLD news item.  Maybe there are new titles, but they have been offering HD rentals via the AppleTV and thus the iTunes store since January 2008.  What would be really news is if they offered ALL HD, and regular movies and TV shows for rent, and not just some.  You have to go through either the Top rentals listing on the AppleTV or go to each individual item to find out if it is for rent or not.  This is a time consuming task.

Gopher,

It’s the ability to purchase HD movies on iTunes that is unique. It’s also unique that they give you both standard def and hi-def versions with the purchase.

I don’t deny the purchasing of HD is unique, but none of this is new.  The irony is, http://www.apple.com/pr/ seems to be acting as if it is new.
