Apple Adds Landscape Mail, Text & Notes
Tuesday, March 17th, 2009 at 3:48 PM - by Bryan Chaffin
Apple announced Tuesday the ability for Mail, Text messaging, and Notes to use landscape mode for typing. The company will be adding the feature to iPhone and iPod touch in iPhone Software 3.0.
Landscape typing mode has long been available in Safari, but the feature was inexplicably unavailable in Mail, Text, and Notes. Third party developers worked to fill the void with applications that would allow you to write a message, for instance, that was then sent to Mail, which would actually send the message out. iPhone Software 3.0 will make these workarounds unnecessary.
iPhone Software 3.0 will be available in the Summer of 2009, and will be free to iPhone users. As with other iPhone Software updates, iPod touch users will be required to purchase the upgrade, this one at a price of US$9.95.
