Apple Discontinues iPhone Bluetooth Headset

Apple quietly discontinued its iPhone Bluetooth Headset on Monday. The headset is still available at Apple's online store, but is listed as "discontinued," implying that once the available inventory runs out iPhone owners will have to look elsewhere for wireless headsets.

Apple hasn't said why it is discontinuing the headset, leaving shoppers to wonder if it didn't sell well enough, or if the company has a new Bluetooth headset in the works.

The iPhone Bluetooth Headset price hasn't dropped, so shoppers will still pay US$99 for the device, but shipping is free. It includes a USB travel cable that charges the headset and also charges and syncs your iPhone.

I liked the look of Apple’s BlueTooth Headset, but I had concerns about it falling out of my ear too easily, kind of like their iPod earbuds. The price wasn’t much less than the Jawbone which is supposed to have great sound as well as an ear hook. I am currently using a functional, if a bit clunky, Motorola that I bought at a great price from Costco.

Doesn’t iPhone OS3 have music over BlueTooth? I wonder if Apple is going to come out with a new model that is optimized for music as well as phone use.
