Apple Looking to Expand iPhone Beyond O2 in UK

O2 may be facing the possibility of losing a little bit of its iPhone exclusivity in the U.K. if reports that Apple is negotiating with T-Mobile prove to be true. Apparently Apple is in talks with T-Mobile for a deal that would let the O2 competitor carry the iPhone 3G, according to The Register.
The deal won't give T-Mobile access to the new iPhone 3GS, but it will give the cell service provider a leg up in the U.K. since Apple's combination iPod and smartphone is a hot seller.
T-Mobile may not, however, be the only company Apple is talking with. The rumor mill is saying Apple is also talking with Orange in the U.K. over an iPhone 3G deal as well.
If the deals with other carriers pan out, U.K. customers may be able to look beyond O2 for their iPhone in the coming months -- which could be good news for customers since more than O2 will be competing for their money.
