Apple Rolls Out iPhone Software 3 Beta 4, iTunes 8.2 Pre-release
Wednesday, April 29th, 2009 at 8:37 AM - by Jeff Gamet
Apple rolled out the fourth beta release of its upcoming iPhone Software 3.0 for its developer program members on Tuesday. The latest beta update also included a pre-release version of iTunes 8.2 which is required to activate the beta 4 software on your iPhone or iPod touch.
The new beta apparently requires Mac OS X 10.5.7 for synching Notes, and lets users modify their iTunes Store account information. In addition to activating the beta 4 software on your iPhone or iPod touch, iTunes 8.2 pre-release supports music playback while updating the software on your device, and verifies that the iPhone or iPod touch is registered with the developer program before installing the new beta software.
iPhone Software 3.0 marks the next major software update for the iPhone and iPod touch. It will add cut and paste support, push notification for third-party applications, MMS, Spotlight searching, stereo Bluetooth support, and more to Apple's handheld devices.
Apple isn't narrowing down release date yet for iPhone Software 3.0, but many developers and analysts are expecting an announcement during the company's World Wide Developer Conference this June.
