Apple Seeds iPhone OS 3.1, SDK 3.1 Betas to Developers
Wednesday, July 1st, 2009 at 7:59 AM - by Jeff Gamet
Apple rolled out beta versions of iPhone OS 3.1 and iPhone SDK 3.1 to developers on Tuesday. The beta looks to include improvements for video and 3D rendering, and possibly support for MMS on the AT&T data network.
The beta update includes 15 new OpenGL tools for 3D models, a video editor API which will likely let third-party apps access the iPhone 3GS video editing interface, along with performance improvements, according to Mobile Crunch.
Apple released iPhone OS 3.0 on June 17. The update added several new features such as system-wide searches, cut and paste, push notification support, voice memos, Find My iPhone, and more.
There isn't any word yet on when iPhone OS 3.1 will move from beta status to an officially shipping update.
