Gameloft on Tuesday announced plans to release Assassin's Creed for the iPhone next week. Based on the best-selling game for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Windows PC, this edition is a prequel set in Jerusalem in the year 1191. Players assume the role of Altair, a master assassin tasked with stealing The Chalice from the Templars and ending the Crusades.
The graphics are in 3D; Gameloft promises "a realistic medieval Middle East environment." Players have six different weapons at their disposal and must master a variety of mini-games as they sneak through environments, talk to various characters, and eliminate enemies. They also collect orbs to upgrade their character's skills and weapons.
Pricing was not announced.
