Behold the Star Trek: TNG iPhone!
Wednesday, March 11th, 2009 at 5:21 PM - by Bryan Chaffin
What happens when a popular tech site puts out the call for a hacker to give an iPhone a Star trek: The Next Generation (TNG) interface? Well, obviously, it happens -- Gizmodo put out just such a call in an article about another iPhone interface, and Andrew Aitken complied, posting a video (below) on YouTube showing off his creation.
In a letter to Gizmodo, Mr. Aitken noted that he built his work on top of some other efforts to create a TNG, "combining several existing models" and adding his own work.
He wrote, "I then ported it to winterboard and added my own mods here and there, like the LCARS calculator and SBSettings, as well as sounds and an animated background to make the whole thing look cooler! I even ported the Enterprise's computer font -- Swiss911, used for the Library Computer Access/Retrieval System's interface -- to the iPhone."
Beam up our iPhones, Mr. Aitken, and make it so!
