Classic Choose Your Own Adventure Books Come to the iPhone

Chooseco, publisher of the Choose Your Own Adventure books, on Wednesday announced a joint venture with Magnetism Studios that has brought two of its classic tales to the iPhone. The books, which are included in one app that sells for US$3, are Journey Under the Sea and Return to Atlantis.

Magnetism Studios retained the original illustrations and added an animated interface, along with the ability to shake the handheld to get a random page.

Choose wisely

Bantam Books launched the original Choose Your Own Adventure series in 1979, selling more than 250 million copies before ceasing publication of the books in 1998. Author R.A. Montgomery, who came up with the original concept and wrote many of the books, bought the rights from Bantam in 2006 and relaunched the series, selling over 1.5 million copies since then.
