Lantana, Texas-based developer Deep Pocket Series LLC introduced its ABC Cursive Writing 1.0 handwriting improvement application for Apple's iPhone and iPod touch handsets on Thursday. The application was created to help adults improve their handwriting skills as well as allow childre to learn the basics of cursive writing for the first time.
Users can practice the lower and upper case ABC(s) and numbers, and the software provides an easy way to practice words created by the child or parent. The application can be customized for a particular word or sentence phrase. The child can enter words at the top of the screen and the program will then present the letters in that specific sequence to create the words.
The application also boasts a feature called a doodle board, which allows children to draw pictures in different colors if they choose not to work on their handwriting as well as the ability to erase letters by simply shaking the iPod/Phone.
Although a stylus isn't necessary to use ABC Cursive Writing, it can help the user become proficient in holding and using a pen and a stylus that works on iPhone or iPod Touch devices is recommended.
The application retails for $0.99 on the App Store and requires iPhone OS 2.0 or later to install and run.
