Digitally Remastered Beatles Catalog Coming September 9
Tuesday, August 18th, 2009 at 5:16 PM - by Jeff Gamet
Beatles fans that have been waiting for the Fab Four's library to join the digital age won't have to wait much longer now that Apple Corps and EMI have announced that digitally remastered versions of the group's complete library will be available on September 9.
Each CD will include the original U.K. album artwork along with booklets containing the original liner notes along with new notes and photos. The albums will also include documentaries on the CDs for a limited time.
The release of digitally remastered versions of each song coincides with the launch of The Beatles: Rock Band video game.
The announcement from Apple Corps, coupled with the official release date for The Beatles: Rock Band, will no doubt set off alarms for Apple rumor followers. Even though Apple hasn't made any announcements, the rumor mills are reporting that the Mac, iPod and iPhone maker will be hosting a special media event most likely on September 9.
Despite Apple's silence over any upcoming media events, speculation is running rampant with talk of new iPods with built-in digital cameras, updated iPod touch models, a new tablet-type device, and The Beatles on iTunes.
Wishful thinking and day dreaming aside, so far the only sure bets for September 9 are that video gamers will be up late trying their hand at The Beatles songs, and fans will be lining up to buy boxed sets of the band's complete library.
