iDoom Now Runs on an iPod nano
Tuesday, November 8th, 2005 at 2:00 PM - by Brad Cook
Programmers Benjamin Eriksson and Mattias Pierre have announced that iDoom now runs on an iPod nano and features configurable controls. The game is a port of the classic first-person shooter to the iPod, which was first covered by The iPod Observer in August.
The game requires iPodLinux and works on all first- through fourth-generation iPods, as well as the iPod photo, the pre-video color models, both versions of the iPod mini and the iPod nano. However, Mr. Eriksson and Mr. Pierre warn gamers on their Web site that iPodLinux only officially supports the first- through third-generation iPods "and will probably ruin your warranty" if it's installed on the MP3 player.
In 1997, developer id Software released the Doom code to the open source community. Since then, many programmers have taken up the challenge of porting it to every conceivable device and operating system.
