iJailBreak Creator Ponders Apple’s Feelings

The 13 year old, known only by his Internet name, AriX, spoke about the creation of iJailBreak and what Apple must think of him, according to ChannelWeb on Thursday.

"It all started with my bar mitzvah," Ari said. That’s when he received a MacBook Pro, the computer he used to write iJailBreak. He’d tried to use the original Jailbreak program on an iPod touch and was unhappy with it. So he wrote his own version that ran much faster.

"After I finished, I was up pretty late Sunday night doing my homework," he said. "I think while I’m sort of famous within the iPod Touch hacking community, my 15 minutes of fame are over. I simply wanted to provide something to benefit the community. All my publicity also made iPod hacking in general more popular, which brings more people to make apps for the mobile OS X platform."

After the initial work was done, his friend, who’s a better writer, helped him set up the iJailBreak.com Website. Ari’s parents are very proud of him.

Asked how Apple must feel about all this, Ari said, "I don’t think they’re as concerned about it as they’re pretending to be." Even so, he wondered if Steve Jobs hates him.

Perhaps, if he weren’t so young, Apple would rather hire him instead.
