Several major electronics and cell phone retailers in Russia have announced that they will start selling Apples iPhone 3G on October 3, according to Reuters on Friday.
"All retailers will begin sales of iPhone in Russia at the same time, during the night between October 2 and October 3. Our company will be also selling them," said PR director Nadezhda Senyuk with retail chain Tekhnosila.
Rivals Eldorado and M.video also said they would also launch the iPhone on October 3. Eldorado estimated that the overall sales in Russia would reach 150,000 by the end of the year, with its share at about 15,000.
Eldorado will sell the 8 GB model, without a contract for the U.S. equivalent of about US$924. The 16 GB model will sell for about $1,084.
All three of the largest wireless carriers, MTS, Vimpelcom and MegaFon have reached agreement with Apple and are taking advance orders.
