iPhone 3G Out of Stock in 21 States

Jim Neal used Apple’s iPhone availability widget to catalog the iPhone status and found that of Apple’s 188 U.S. Retail stores, 117 were sold out of all three models, according to Fortune on Tuesday.
Apples stores in these states indicated no stock at all: Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin.
Customers can check after 9:00 PM local time to see what the availability is for their local Apple stores. The blog by Elmer-DeWitt noted that the iPhone 3G is sold on a first come, first served basis, so customers seeking the new Apple iPhone are often getting in line early each day hoping to buy one before they’re sold out.
A company spokesperson for AT&T said that the iPhone 3G was sold out the first day with no prediction on when they’ll be restocked.
In Colorado, only the Cherry Creek store has stock, 8 GB Black and 16 GB white.
