iPhone Climbs The Ranks of OS Market Share

The iPhone (OS X) now ranks above many well known operating systems in market share, coming in 10th, only a few spots behind Linux, according to the latest Net Applications Report on Monday.
While a lot of attention is paid to the relative market shares of Windows XP, Vista and Mac OS X, those numbers tend to change glacially. Those OSes have a solid lock on the top spots.
On the other hand, less than six months after its debut, the iPhone’s OS X has risen to 10th in the Net Applications list of OS market share.
Moreover, while its miniscule 0.09 percent is far behind Linux at 0.57 percent, its appearance on the list, one rank above Windows CE at 0.06 percent speaks well for the iPhone as an emerging portable personal computer.
