iPhone SDK Downloads Clear 100,000 Mark

Apple’s iPhone software developer kit has been available since March 6, but over 100,000 copies have been downloaded already. According to Apple’s figures, it took only four days to hit the 100,000 mark.
The iPhone SDK lets developers craft applications for the iPhone and iPod touch. Those applications can be distributed through Apple’s App Store which is set to open in June.
Anyone can download the SDK for free from Apple’s iPhone Developer Web site, but signing up to distribute applications through App Store comes with a US$99 fee.
Apple unveiled the iPhone SDK at a special media event on March 6 along with a preview of the App Store and iPhone Software 2.0. Several companies have already announced plans for iPhone and iPod touch applications including EA, Sega, AOL, The Omni Group, NewsGator, and more.
Phil Schiller, Apple senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing, commented "Developer reaction to the iPhone SDK has been incredible."
