iPod Sales Down in Taiwan

iPod and iPod nano sales have dropped below 20,000 units a month in Taiwan since May. According to DigiTimes, the decrease is due to strong competition from Samsung and SanDisk, along with price cuts from lesser-known brands of MP3 players.
iPod sales in the first quarter fell between 25,000 and 35,000 a month when Apple was experiencing supply shortages, and shot up to 45,000 to 50,000 units when it was able to produce enough product.
While other companies have introduced new portable media players with more features than the iPod, Apple has not introduced any new products. Taiwan's iPod sales may climb back up again once Apple releases the rumored redesigned iPod nano and new video capable iPod models.
