iPod Vendors Asked to Change Names

Apple is asking some iPod retailers to drop the "iPod" in their names, according to a report from Wired News. Everythingipod.co.uk and iPodlife were both asked to change their names, with the later having chosen iWorld UK for its new name.
"I’m very nervous that this whole affair will hurt our business financially," Barry Mann, director of everythingipod, told Wired News.
"[It’s] a massive blow for our fledgling company and I am sure for all the others too," Patrick Taylor, director of iPodlife said. "We have to re-brand from iPodlife to a name that does not contain any trademarks owned by Apple. By rebranding as iWorld UK, we can continue to trade."
On the other hand, Steve Hawkins, the managing director of A M Micro, a digital device distributor in the UK, pointed out that Apple does have to protect its trademark. There are additional details in the full story.
