iPod touch Hits Store Shelves

Apple’s iPhone-like iPod touch already began appearing in the company’s own retail locations only days after its September 5 launch. The touch screen iPod was available on Thursday in at least the SOHO New York, Union Square San Francisco, and Oakridge San Jose stores, according to Playlist.
The iPod touch already includes access to the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store that lets users purchase and download iTunes songs wirelessly with their iPod instead of using the iTunes application on their computer. That feature will be added to the iPhone through a software update later this month.
Apple’s iPod touch sports a 3.5-inch multi-touch widescreen display and the same interface found on the iPhone. It does not include phone features, but does include Wi-Fi, Safari, Calendar and Address Book applications, YouTube, and music and video playback. The US$399 16GB is available now, but the $299 8GB model has not been released yet.
