iPort on Wednesday rolled out five new free-standing iPort devices that enable iPod owners stream audio and photos to their home entertainment systems as well as sync with iTunes. The iPorts switch between the two functions at the touch of a button. All of the models charge the MP3 player while it's docked and come with a multi-function, two-part mated cable for USB, audio, video, control and power.

The basic free-standing iPort (US$150) requires users to control the iPod with its click wheel. The next model up sells for $200 and comes with an infrared remote control along with variable audio output. The remote control will also be sold separately for $50; it can also control all of the iPort in-wall systems that have IR ports.

The three high-end free-standing iPorts come with an advanced breakout box designed for integrating them into whole home audio and video systems. Moving up the line, each version comes with the features standard to the lower model and adds more functionality. The FS-3 model ($600) features a balanced audio path that supports up to 500-foot wiring runs and comes with audio sender and receiver wall plates.

FS-4 ($800) offers two-way communication, enabling users to control an iPod from any room and see track, playlist, album and artist information. FS-5 ($1,100) adds on balanced video sender and receiver wall plates, enabling users to send images up to 250 feet for viewing on a TV.
