iTunes: 200M TV Shows Sold, Networks Add New HD Shows

Apple’s iTunes Store TV show sales topped 200 million episodes on October 16, and over a million of those sales came from HD shows purchased in the last month. The Mac and iPod maker also announced on Thursday that its HD quality TV show lineup now includes offerings from ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC.

Eddy Cue, Apple’s vice president of Internet Services, commented "We’ve got an incredible Fall 2008 TV lineup with over 70 primetime comedies and dramas, including many of the most popular shows on TV in stunning HD."

After Apple and NBC kissed and made up over a falling out on show pricing, the broadcaster returned to iTunes a month ago and brought HD programming with it. With the addition of more networks, iTunes Store customers now have access to an even longer list of high definition shows including Desperate Housewives, Grey’s Anatomy, Lost, Ugly Betty, CSI: Miami, Numb3rs, Bones, House, 30 Rock, Heroes, The Office, Battlestar Galactica, Psych and more.

HD shows are priced at US$2.99 and standard quality shows cost $1.99.
