iTunes Ad Credited For Helping Push Dylan’s Album to No. One
Thursday, September 7th, 2006 at 3:00 PM - by Brad Cook
Bob Dylan's latest album, Modern Times is number one on the U.S. Billboard chart, an achievement that was likely helped by his appearance in a new iTunes/iPod ad. This is Mr. Dylan's first number one album in 30 years, and, at 65, he's now the oldest person to have a chart-topper, according to The Australian.
Mr. Dylan played the song "Someday Baby" in the new commercial. The Australian noted that another cut from the album, "When the Deal Goes Down," is featured in a short film starring Scarlett Johansson, and the musician also hosts a satellite radio show. Modern Times was number three on the iTunes Music Store chart of best-selling albums for Friday, Sept. 8, as of 2:39 PM EST.
